Read the Bible Together
We believe God speaks through his Word. Each week, we open the Bible in small groups and public talks to see who Jesus is and why he matters.
We’re a Christian student community on campus exploring Jesus together.
We’re Swinburne Christian Union: a community of students committed to knowing Jesus and making him known at Swinburne. Uni can be exciting but also overwhelming, and we believe Jesus brings clarity, hope, and purpose to it all. That’s why we meet together – to read the Bible, encourage one another, and share the good news of Jesus with our campus.

Uni is better when it’s shared. We connect over meals, socials, and everyday life – building friendships that encourage and support each other.
We want the good news of Jesus to be heard across our campus. Through events, conversations, and invitations, we share the hope he offers to everyone.
Our group is shaped and led by students, which means uni life and student voices are at the heart of everything we do. We’re also supported by mentors who come alongside us in reading the Bible, growing in faith, and sharing Jesus on campus. Together, we’re building a community of students leading our mission through partnership with long-term, campus-based AFES staff.
Meet our people
Swinburne Christian Union wants to serve and love all Swinburne students. Our events aren’t just for Christians. If you’re curious about the Christian faith – Swinburne Christian Union is also for you. We want everyone at Swinburne to have a safe place to investigate Jesus, who brings freedom and meaning to our lives. Christian or not.
Our group at Swinburne began with a few students wanting to explore Jesus together. Over time, we’ve grown into a community of friends, learners, and leaders – all seeking to make faith meaningful in uni life. There’s a rich history behind how we came to be, and we’d love for you to see it for yourself.
Our history
Our group partners with AFES, a national community of students discovering Jesus together. All AFES groups across Australia stand on the same biblical foundations, seeking to proclaim Jesus faithfully on every campus. Being part of this wider community means we’re connected to other campus groups, supported by experienced mentors, and able to be part of something bigger than ourselves.
What we believe
I have always wanted a group of friends who love God and encourage one another in faith. I found this in Swinburne CU.
The friendships built here have been a great source of happiness and encouragement, not only in university but in life as well. Most of all, I am grateful that CU has helped strengthen my hope in Jesus Christ.
