What if uni is about more than your degree? We’re here to help you see Jesus, the one who gives meaning to it all.
Jesus is Lord, and his Word is our foundation, no matter the cultural moment. At uni, we are taught to question everything. At AFES, we do that with the Bible open.
We want to make sure everyone has a chance to meet Jesus at uni. So part of our purpose is to make him unmissable on campus – through what we say, how we live, love and serve our peers.
We don’t think uni should be an isolating experience. Whether you’re a committed Christian or just curious – AFES is a community where you will be known, supported, and invited to belong.
We engage with the Bible at the same intellectual depth as our studies – tackling life’s biggest questions with honesty and clarity. Our hope is to see every student mature in Christ.

I studied Computer Science at Swinburne until last year when I graduated. I wasn’t a Christian when I first came to Swinburne. But I was curious about Christianity and I’d started reading the Bible and watching a few Christian videos on YouTube. I wanted to see if Jesus really was resurrected and if I should follow Him. So I tried coming to a CU event to see what Christians had to say.
The Bible talk was really helpful and everyone was so welcoming and willing to answer all my questions. They even helped me find a local church I could try visiting.
Since that first time I visited, I was so excited to keep coming along and I learnt so much and made the best friends I’ve made at uni. And now I’ve discovered for myself that being Christian isn’t a burden, but is actually the best way for everyone to live and that following Jesus is exactly what we were made for. I’d highly recomend anyone curious about the Christian faith to visit Christian Union at least once to see what we’re on about.
At Swinburne Christian Union, we want to connect with other Christians on campus, be encouraged and grow you in our faith, and work together to share Jesus’ message of hope with our classmates on campus. Here’s some ways to be a part of Swinburne Christian Union.
